Reading the NY Times, I recently came across this article about some great plays that can be seen right now in the NY area. Peter can be seen right now in “Circle Mirror Transformation”, a story that “traces the emotional transitions in the lives of a handful of small-town Vermont residents who gather each week for an acting class taught at the local community center”.

I found this article particularly satisfying. You don’t need tons of money and mega stars to make great work.

Waaaay back in May, a previous cut of the film screened at an institutional event for the Calarts film directing program.

Little did I know that in the audience was Patricia Zohn, who has a regular column in the culture section of The Huffington Post!

The article was mostly about Calarts, President Levine, and its reputation for fostering artists that are “fearless”. I wholeheartedly agree.

Film is completed!! It sounds and looks great.

As mentioned before, we’re sending copies to festivals. And my little mac that could is churning out dvds for actors and crew. Now I just need a ton of envelopes!

Digital Intermediate Update

Well,

So we’re doing a D.I. (digital intermediate), basically fine-tuning the color and making it look pretty with titles and the whole bit so it can screen. We’re working with Local Hero Post which comes highly recommended and they do a great job.

Anyway, check out what they do over there at Local Hero. Pay special attention to their promo vid, and their “Color Correction” section, they’re pretty great:

New Trailer

Thanks to Vimeo’s awesomeness, Luke (our webmaster) and I have uploaded a new trailer. You can see it now on the trailer page. There’s a slight error in it, but I’m wondering if anyone can spot it…hmm we’ll see.

Also planning on adding a twitter feed to the page, cause thats what everybody’s into these days.

Getting our act together

Hi folks. Getting really excited here as we’re finishing up editing and will be doing a negative cut, digital intermediate, and output to HD. Should look sparkling.

The site continues to be a work in progress for now. In the next few weeks we’ll be adding links to HD trailers on youtube and vimeo, better photos and more information for our press kit, and a refinement of the site design. A special thanks to Luke Petschauer who was second AC on the film and will also serve as our webmaster.

We’ll also be updating our progress regarding festivals. We had one closed CalArts screening at Redcat a few weeks ago that went over well.

Anyway bookmark the site and come back often!

Ari on the Preakness

The Preakness is going to go off in a couple of hours, and it certainly should be an interesting race. Calvin Borel got a lot of undeserved heat for jumping off Mine That Bird and opting to ride Rachel Alexandra instead. It was an easy decision to make – even if she loses the Preakness, she’ll clean up in future races against fillies and mares and earn more money than Mine That Bird ever will. Hopefully Rachel Alexandra will put in a strong performance, as the sport could definitely use a durable superstar. From a gambling standpoint, however, I’m leaning towards newcomer Big Drama to get the early lead and yield in the final sixteenth to Derby-favorite flop Friesan Fire.

In related news, Pimlico has wisely ended their “bring your own beer” policy in the infield in order to prevent incidents like this from happening: 1999 Preakness Undercard

We here at Call to the Post central are extremely excited about the relaunch of the new site (www.bugler-movie.com). We’re hoping this updated site will look a lot cooler than the previous version. We’ll also have regular blog updates and some new videos and trailers. My producer and good friend Ari Zatlin will be blogging too with his insights into the world of horseracing. Hopefully he’ll post some of his race picks.
