The Preakness is going to go off in a couple of hours, and it certainly should be an interesting race. Calvin Borel got a lot of undeserved heat for jumping off Mine That Bird and opting to ride Rachel Alexandra instead. It was an easy decision to make – even if she loses the Preakness, she’ll clean up in future races against fillies and mares and earn more money than Mine That Bird ever will. Hopefully Rachel Alexandra will put in a strong performance, as the sport could definitely use a durable superstar. From a gambling standpoint, however, I’m leaning towards newcomer Big Drama to get the early lead and yield in the final sixteenth to Derby-favorite flop Friesan Fire.
